Caesarea – where Pilate lived

The whole area surrounding the Mediterranean is rich with Roman remains.  In Israel this includes Caesarea:

Downtown Caesarea, still being excavated

The Circus, blocked halfway by an unexcavated bit

Roman palace garden, with Crusader walls

Public toilets, row of seating on left with drain

Office floor

Thousands of years of building on top of earlier foundations
